Northwood Elementary Chorus Guidelines
Membership in Chorus
Parents and students have chosen chorus as an after-school elective in 4th or 5th grade. Students are expected to assume the responsibility of this membership and remain in the Chorus for the entire school year. Though Chorus is an after-school activity, regular and prompt attendance is expected. Students who are picked up late two times may be asked to leave the group. Please be prompt.
Students in chorus are expected to adhere to Northwood PBIS behavior expectations. In order to make chorus a fun and successful place for all members, rule breaking will result in the following consequences:
1st time – verbal warning
2nd time – email/phone call home
3rd time – the student will be removed from chorus
Rehearsals
We will begin rehearsals on September 11th. Rehearsals are from 2:30-3:30 every Wednesday in Ms. Dahl’s classroom. You may pack a light snack for your student to have before rehearsal begins.
Pick-Up
We will dismiss in the carpool lane at 3:30. Students who are picked up late two times may be asked to leave the group. Please be prompt.
Attendance at Performances
Chorus is a performing group. We will perform at least twice this year. Our winter concert date is December 4th at 6:30 pm (mark your calendar!) Chorus members are expected to keep parents informed of performance times. Parents and Chorus members will need to arrange for transportation to and from performances and rehearsals.
Website
Our music website, www.NESChorus.weebly.com, will feature chorus announcements and information.
Curriculum
The students will learn choral repertoire that coincides with the Fulton County Elementary School Choral Curriculum.
Performing Uniform
The chorus uniform is our Northwood Chorus t-shirt and jeans. Please see the attached sheet, for further information regarding your student’s shirt. Chorus members must wear the uniform when they perform.
Communication
Parents and chorus members are expected to keep an open line of communication with Ms. Dahl. Chorus members will assume the responsibility of delivering important information to parents. Parents are strongly encouraged to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. My email address is [email protected].
